The miracles and teachings from the life of Shri Swami Samarth
When Swami first arrived in the small village of Akkalkot, he carried with him an aura of mystery that captivated the local community. Clad in simple robes and seated comfortably beneath the sprawling branches of an ancient Banyan tree, he radiated a sense of peace and detachment. The villagers gathered around, their hearts filled with both curiosity and skepticism. Among them, a man named Cholappa felt an inexplicable pull towards Swami, convinced that there was something divine within him.
As days passed, Swami's presence stirred both admiration and ridicule. Some villagers mocked him and questioned his motivations for being there. Yet, Swami remained unfazed, ever devoted to his mission of spreading love and hope. To demonstrate his divine powers and reveal his true nature, he decided to perform a silent yet astonishing miracle that would leave the villagers spellbound.
One afternoon, he requested a few dry, dead branches to be brought to him. Eager yet doubtful, the villagers complied. With a mere touch, Swami transformed those lifeless branches before their eyes. Fresh green leaves sprouted, revitalizing what had seemed utterly lifeless. The crowd gasped in disbelief, their skepticism giving way to awe.
Moral: Even when we feel dried up or overwhelmed by life’s challenges, the touch of a true Guru can breathe new life into our spirits, instilling hope and vitality in our darkest moments.
In a distant town, a devotee named Balappa carried an immense burden on his shoulders: a painful and incurable disease that had robbed him of joy for far too long. He had consulted every doctor and tried every treatment available, yet nothing seemed to alleviate his suffering. Desperate and nearly out of hope, Balappa learned of Swami’s presence in Akkalkot, and without hesitation, he began his arduous journey to meet the Mahatma.
Upon reaching the Banyan tree where Swami sat surrounded by a throng of followers, Balappa felt overwhelmed by the crowd. He watched from afar, wrestling with feelings of insignificance and despair. He sat quietly in a corner, tears streaming down his face, consumed by thoughts of unworthiness: “Why would a great Mahatma like Swami ever notice someone like me?”
In an extraordinary turn of events, as Balappa sat in the shadows of his sorrow, Swami suddenly called out his name, even though they had never met before. A flicker of hope ignited within Balappa’s heart. With a gentle smile, Swami invited him forward and offered a simple piece of bread dipped in water, urging Balappa to eat it.
To the amazement of everyone present, as Balappa took that first bite, he felt an overwhelming warmth spread through his body. In an instant, the pain that had tormented him for years disappeared, and his health was restored. Balappa was filled with gratitude, overwhelmed by the miraculous intervention he had just experienced.
Moral: A true Guru recognizes our suffering often before we even voice it. We do not need to hold any significant status to receive His grace; all we need is a heartfelt desire for healing and a genuine connection to the divine.
In another powerful tale, a devotee faced overwhelming fear and anxiety. This man found himself in dire straits, grappling with insurmountable obstacles: mounting debts, job insecurity, and the constant stress of being surrounded by adversaries. When he arrived, he fell to the ground, overwhelmed by fear. Swami looked down at him, his gaze filled with compassion and strength. The Mahatma understood the depths of the devotee’s suffering and the heavy burden he carried. In a moment that would resonate through the hearts of many, Swami struck his thigh and declared with unwavering confidence, “Bhiu Nakos, Mi Tuzya Pathishi Aahe” (Fear not, I am standing behind you).
These words ignited a spark of courage within the devotee. Though his challenges remained, the fear that had immobilized him began to melt away, allowing him to stand up with newfound determination. He left Swami’s presence feeling empowered and ready to face his struggles, no longer feeling alone in his battles.
